amsterdam roller derby
Amsterdam Roller Derby was founded in 2009, the first league in the Netherlands. We are a group of strong athletic, ambitious and affable people from all walks of life with a mad passion for one thing: ROLLER DERBY!
We are a volunteer non-profit based sport and so everyone is a part of the running and organisation of our team. If you would like to help us out you could volunteer at a game, join our league as a skater, referee or NSO or of course you can donate!
In October 2013, Amsterdam was accepted as a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Programme, and Amsterdam became a full WFTDA member league in December 2014.
The team was founded as “Amsterdam Derby Dames”, in 2017 the organisation re-branded as “Amsterdam Roller Derby“.
The Amsterdam Roller Derby team is a group of formidable skaters that are making their mark in European derby. Going from strength to strength this year’s players is working hard to train their skills, teamwork, track awareness and off-skate strength to put forward an A team that will push their opponents to their limits.
The All Stars have gained momentum and with a lot of hard work, in the 2019/2020 season they are listed as 27th in Europe, and 112th in the WFTDA Flat Track Stats.
Think the team might be the right fit for you? Contact us and we'll let you know about the next team trials or let us know if you want to be part of the coaching team.
If you would like to organise a game against the All Stars send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
ARD has a healthy team of referees that support our team during trainings, scrimmages and games.
Our zebras keep us right, they teach us the particulars of rules especially when a new set is announced by the WFTDA it is so vital we stay up to date.
Any member of our league that has tried to NSO knows full well that it isn’t an easy task. It requires focus and management and we are so lucky to have dedicated NSOs that are part of ARD.
Although their official uniform colour is now black they will always be our flamingos! NSOs are an integral part of our league and we greatly value and appreciate their hard work.
We are so proud that our announcers have been around the world losing their voices and showing off their stuff, including the Roller Derby World Cup! They are very pro-active in the derby community, and have encouraged teams to appreciate this role in our sport.
We are all volunteers in a way, Amsterdam Roller Derby is a volunteer run non-for-profit league, BUT we also have some amazing people who donate their time and don't reap the benefits our league members do. We thanks all of our event volunteers and some stand out folk who have turned up for us consistently throughout the years, to take photos, to fix track, to DJ, to explain the rules to new fans, to sell raffle tickets, to support us.
If you would like to volunteer keep an eye out for our next event and contact us! There are a few perks in it for you too.
